Set up Residency in one state while having property in other state

We are retired have set up residency in our Motor Home with South Dakota listed as our residency. If we purpose a house in another state will that change our residency to that state, since that will be the only state we will own a house in?

Residency is usually based on where you live for a certain time period of the year - not on what you own in any state. So, the answer is unlikely but I would doublecheck the laws related to South Dakota.

First of all, let me apologize for the delay in answering your question. You'd have to check with the relevant officials (maybe the Secretary of State) of both states since each state makes their own rules in that regard.
