Legal Question in Family Law in Spain

U.S. Adoption Recognition in Spain

If an adult is the legal ADOPTED ''child'' of a Spaniard, will Spain recognize the

adoption AND allow the ''child'' to elect to have Spanish citizenship?

NOTE : Adoption was in the United States. The ''child'' was 19 when the

adoption occurred, and it just took place recently.

Re: U.S. Adoption Recognition in Spain

This is a question for a Spanish lawyer who is an expert in Spanish Immigration. I do not have any knowledge regarding these matters.

Re: U.S. Adoption Recognition in Spain

I would suggest that you need to get an opinion from a very experienced adoption attorney in Spain, not here. Perhaps you should call the American Embassy for a referral to a lawyer who may know something about this in spain. You won't get the answer on this site. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
