Can I be garnished if i can't work?

My husband is working not enough money to pay bills. I stay home with kids cant afford daycare. I have to make a desion pay bills feed my kids. Kids will win so if the cards are in my name what can they garnish i have no job. I would file bankruptcy but two cards have my husbands name on them and he owes a loan to work for 10,000 for school they say he will lose his job. Then we have no money at all. do i just let the cards take me to court or try and file? we dont own a home we only own one car we have nothing but two great kids.
