Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Tennessee

Car repossession after divorce

My ex-wife let a car get repossessed that we purchased during our marriage. The loan company repossessed it and sold it without my knowledge and then sent me a bill for $9000. Should I have been notified that it was repossessed so I had the opportunity to recover it? In addition, the divorce decree awarded responsibility for the loan to her. Do I have any recourse against her?

Re: Car repossession after divorce

If the decree says that the loan was her responsibility, you will have to sue her to enforce the decree. You may be awarded your attorney's fees if the decree also provides this.
