Statute of limitations on old phone bill in collections

When does the limitations expire for an old debt (telephone bill)that is in the amount of $1200-$1500 that was incurred in 1993 or 1995 ? Is there not a 7 or 10 year limitation on this in TN? And what can collections do to me as far as threats toward my job? Basically I can not afford this and how do I get collections off my back?

The statute of limitations is 6 years from the date of the last payment.
