Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

can i be a cop

I am currently on probation for agg. robery and conspiracy to comit agg robery.I recieved a post trial diversion, so it will be expunged when i'm done with probation. I am on for 8 years and 100 hours community service. i have almost paid all my court costs and have done my community service. I have also done 2 years of probation without a flaw. And the crime happened when i was 18 and i'm about to turn 22. there are some special circumstances like somebody was in on it in the store.

is there anything i can do to become a police officer or even at very least joint the military?

Once the diversionary period is over, the charge will be dismissed and you can have it expunged. At that time it should make no difference in applying for a position as a police officer or going into the military.

Until then, check with whatever law enforcement agency you would like to join and with your local military recruiter. Simply be honest with them about the charge and the diversion agreement, even bringing a copy of the indictment and the agreement with you. It may not make any difference, but their internal policies will be controlling.
