If someone is originally from New York and has been living in the state of Tennessee for about two years and is contemplating a divorce, will they file in the state they reside or would they have to file in New York?

Re: Interstate Divorce

If you have lived here for as long as you state and it is not on a temporary basis but the establishment of a residence, you can file here. However, there remain quesions such as where the real property is and where the children (if any) have been living. I would hire a local attorney on a consultation basis to find out where the proper venue is. Best of luck.
