Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

Swindled, Defrauded By A Minor

I became involved with an underage female (no sexual involvement) and entered into a relationship with her. We became engaged with the intent to be married when she turned 18. She in turn after receiving numerous gifts of value including engagement ring and charging up an overall hefty telephone bill just walked away from everything. I come to find out through friends of hers that is was all just a game she was playing to get attention and boost her popularity at the school she attends. I realize how ''dumb'' I was but I feel that it was intentional theft in a way. Anything that I can do? I live in California and she resides in Tennessee. I have not had any contact from her in sometime. She never offered to return anything.

I think that your best solution is to simply walk away, and chalk it all up to experience. You certainly will know better in the future, even if you did not know better in this situation.

Your relationship with her is criminal and the parents can have you prosecuted for "statutory rape". If you press this girl, how do you think she'll respond. Yeah, that's right, you go to jail. If she is that smart to swindle you out of all you stated, she is that smart to get you arrested. Walk away and chalk it up to experience. Good luck and thanks for inquiring.
