Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Tennessee

Nullifying a lease

I signed a year lease in Feb 2004. I was working in the area and sharing the house with my then-fiance, now husband. He lost his job, which leaft me unable to pay the rent. He got another job in Alabama. We moved the date of the wedding up (also due to the illness of his Mother) and moved back to AL for his job and to care for him Mom. I have heard there is a clause that allows you to get out of a lease if you move 50 miles away. We are alot farther than that. Is there any way we can get out of our lease for the move or for family illness or loss of job?

Re: Nullifying a lease

It depends on the language contained in the lease - it is either in there or not.
