Legal Question in Personal Injury in Tennessee
Long-term Emotional Distress
I have been in love with this girl for 13 years. She has come in and out of my life many times over the years. She always does me wrong. She has signed warrants on me for harrasment and stalking. The stalking was because I called her dad's house twice in nine months not asking to talk to her, but just asking how she was doing . The judge dismissed with no court cost. Last year, I had finally decided to move on and found a girl friend. But when she found out she came to me and said she loved me and wanted to marry me. I spent two weeks trying to choose between the two. I chose her and we were together for five days and she went back to her ex. This year she neede some help with a ride to work and as usual I was there to help her. But, as soon as she found another way she won't even talk to me. I get so depressed I don't feel like doing anything. I have lost several really good jogs because I miss work because of being depressed over her. I truly want to move on , but she will always be a stumbling block in my path. I feel she owes me for all she has put me through and that she should be punished in some way .
What are my legal options ? Can I sue for emotional distress ? Could there be criminal charges for the false warrants ?

Re: Long-term Emotional Distress
You need to do some very serious growing up. Perhaps get a counselor. While you might technically have a cause of action for filing a false report, it sounds as if this was something that happened long enough ago that your cause of action would be gone (you would have to have filed within one year), and it also sounds as if what you really want to do is to "get even" with her for not loving you.... which is why I suggest that you get professional help from someone other than a lawyer.
