I agree with the other gentlemen who replied to your inquiry, i.e. suit must be filed within one year from the date of loss or one year from the date the cause of action accrued, to be a bit more technical. Also, keep in mind that in a wrongful death suit, which is the type of action about which you are inquiring, there are statutes which govern: 1) who may bring the action and 2) how any proceeds from that action are allocated and distributed, if it results in a settlement or judgment. Obviously, more detail is needed on these ancillary issues to make certain you are among those who have standing to assert the claim.
