Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Tennessee

Default of oral agreement.

I allowed a friend to move into my apartment that I was leasing. he agreed to finish the remaining months on the lease. He paid me the 1st month with a bad check. And he moved out the last month witout paying rent. Do I have any legal rights to sue him maybe in civil court for the cost of the check and last months rent?

Based on the facts you give, it sounds like you have a standard breach of contract suit. If you file in the General Sessions Court where the person now lives, you can simply appear in court and tell the judge the story you wrote in this comment. He will want some evidence that the check actually bounced.
