Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Tennessee

Sexual Harassment in the workplace

Can a work place make you sign a paper stating you will not contact any lawyers involving sexual harrassment, or you will be fired? Also , after the employee says she feels uncomfortable being touched and called "Honey" nothing is done and the manager retaliates by being abusive isn't that enough for a lawsuit? Thankyou!

I'm licensed in Tennessee and offer this answer only to set out Tennessee law, but here in Tennessee that contract your employer had you sign would be void as violating public policy (in other words your employer could not enforce it).If your employer did fire you for bringing a sexual harrassment action or filing a meritorious complaint with a supervisor, it would be considered "retaliatroy termination" and would be an entirely new and independent lawsuit. And yes, the facts you set out, if proven to the satisfaction of a jury, would not only ge enough to bring a lawsuit, but enough to WIN one.Don't put up with it.
