Probate Bond Cost

My wife had an uncle pass away in Tennessee, he was unmarried and has two brothers. My wife,s mother is passed away also. Why is his estate probate bond set at 136.000$. This was stated in a letter from the court. a long time friend is his Estate Executor.

As a general matter, Tennessee probate law requires that the administrator or executor of an estate post a bond for the value of the estate. This requirement can be waived in a will. In addition, if there is no will, the requirement can be waived by the court if all of the heirs sign written consents to waive the requirement of a bond.
