Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Tennessee

How do I know if a will has been read? Is that a matter of public record? We think my husband was included in a will but haven't heard anything and don't want to ask the family.

In Tennessee, it is not required that a Will be submitted to the Probate court of record once the Testator of that Will has passed.

That being said, you cannot access the accounts of the deceased without the Letters of Administration being granted by the Probate Court in the county of the deceased.

If you do not want to ask the family, you will need to call the county in which the deceased resided in to inquire if the Will has been admitted to probate.
