Legal Question in Disability Law in Texas

Does Doctor have to pay interpreter for deaf patient?

I am a solo doctor, professionally incorporated. My PA has 3 employees (myself and 2 assistants). I have a deaf patient that can partially read lips, can write and read well, but cannot hear. She says I must pay for a sign-language interpreter for her visits to my office. I usually get paid $35-$55 for a routine office visit for this medicare patient. The interpreter charges a $60 minimum. Am I required to pay this?

Thanks,

No, you don't. If Texas anstidiscrimination law is anything like it is elsewhere, your corporatin would have to have more employees to have the law apply to you.
