Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

animal cruelity

My neighbor shot my dog becouse he said that he has had problem with other dogs chasing his chicken. He said my dog was not chasing his chickens but was on his property and he was not going to take a chance on my dog chasing his chickens. He naver tried to contact me about my dog, and as for as i know that was the first time my dog was on his property, there is no leash law were i live. After he shot my dog he drug it off into the woods i asked him to tell me where my dog was so i could burry it he said i threw it over my south fence, i looked and could not find it. I called the shreriff and reported it and told them i wanted my dog so i could burry it, the sheriff told my neighbor to tell me where my dog was, but he never would. Do i have a civil case, to make him pay me for my dog
