Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

I wasn't able to pay a pet deposit on my dog to live at my apartment complex so I asked a friend to watch him for me. She had her neighbor watch him (which I had no idea) and now her neighbor refuses to give back the dog cuz she claims that she's been watching him for 2 months. She doesn't deny that the dog doesn't belong to me, from what she's told the cops. She thinks she can just keep him because my friend that I trusted with him let her watch him.All I have is his shot and rabies certificate showing his picture on it from when I took him to the vet about 6 months ago. Will I bet able to get him back with just that because my friend is now avoiding me.Can I get my dog back?

Sue her for conversion. File the lawsuit in Justice Court. The filing fee will be about $100.

Before you do that, send her a PAPER LETTER (no phone calls or emails or texts) demanding the return of the dog. Give her a time deadline of 30 days. On the 31st day, if you don't have the dog back, sue her.
