Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Used Car

I pursued a use car from a car lot in Waco Texas 4mo ago. I have not received the tags are restoration as of today. The company I pursed the car from has told me they sold the note to a different car company 2 weeks ago. I have never missed a payment but I am hopping I am not paying for something I may never own. What should I do? I really do need tags for my car I would hate to get a ticket. Would I have to pay for it?

Re: Used Car

Unfortunately, it is possible that you may never own the vehicle because it is possible that the car lot might not have owned it. I don't know for sure, but if you report this situation to the police, they might check out the transaction. The reason I don't know for sure is because I cannot predict what the police might do.

Re: Used Car

To find out if you were swindled, go to the DMV in your area, and provide them the paperwork, with the VIN number of the car (you may want to check the car parts, and verify that the VIN matches the car). They will be able to tell you if the registered owner of the car is the car lot or some other party. You will obviously want to contact the registered owner of the car, and find out if they sold it, and if so, to whom. Also contact the car lot where you purchased the car, and ask for the name, address and telephone number of the company that now owns the note. You should be able to get alot of useful information that will help you track down the problem. TCL
