Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

I have proof of fraud - now what

an ac/heating co came out to service and then told us both furnaces needed new gas valves. It seemed very fishy and when they left I saw several internet things about this company doing unnecessary repairwork. I stopped payment on my check b/c I believed I had been victim of a fraud. Now I have the proof. Another company came out and put my old valves back on. Both work great and when he took off what was supposed to be the new parts they both look a old/used and one of the really looks old. So not only did he overcharge ($789 per valve that cost $62-$92) but he sold me old/used parts and further he replaced parts of mine that were and are in good working order. So now what? I don't want to let them get away w/this. Where do I go to take him to court or what do I do about this? Also, he is saying he wants his $1600 but now I know for a fact that he changed out my good working parts, overcharged and then also sold the parts as new and when taken off they are definitely used/older parts.

The problem about trying to be your own lawyer is that you don't know "what to do about this". This is not a "self-help, do-it-yourself" legal website. What you think is proof has to be proven with testimony and evidence. Now you have a crook in your sights, but I don't know how he is going to pay for your legal services required to put this case before a judge. Many times JP's are very accommodating to non-lawyers, but JP's are required to follow the law also. If you're going to do this yourself, you'll have to do what it takes to get ready. Good Luck.
