Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Someone sold me a bad car.
I purchased a car from an individual that he represented as ''Running as good as ever''. I went to my credit union with him and procured the loan. On taking the car to get it inspected it overheated and I had it towed to my house. I called my CU and told them to hold the loan until I could have the car looked at by a mechanic. The mechanic said the car needed extensive engine work. In the meantime my CU found that the car was in litigation to be repossed. I cancelled the loan and told the car owner that I did not want the car. He said to call the loan company and have them come get it. He has now served papers to sue me for the amount of the loan. What can I do? I have been unsuccessful in finding a lawyer to take the case. By the way I live in Texas, am a single mom and work in a school district.
