Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

How to sue a used car dealer in Texas from NJ

I have purchased a car over the Internet from a dealer in Texas. THe car had severe mechanical problems, while the description stated 100% free of any defects. THe estimate ran to $2500. How can I sue the dealer if I live in NJ? Is it possible at all?

There may be a basis to bring suit in New Jersey. I need to have more information to determine if there are enough contacts to New Jersey. How did you find out about the car? Did you sign a contract for the car? If there is a basis to bringing suit in New Jersey, then you should allege that the dealer violated the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act. If you can prove the dealer violated it, you are entitled to triple your actual damages and the dealer has to pay your attorney's fees.
