Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Judgment from american express. I am in 80's, live on social security only - have NO property, not even a cemetery lot - I tried to work with them two years ago - this is all interest owed. I found I was paying 60/month and 59 was going on interest and one dollar on principal. tried talking with them - no avail. Have '98 automobile as only property. Need this for doctor visits, etc. can they take my car?

No, they cannot take your car. It is included in the list of exempted items which may not, by law, be taken to satisfy a debt. However, this doesn't mean that they won't try. (These people often count on people not knowing their rights and so get away with what amounts to stealing.) If you can, keep your car garaged - they cannot enter onto your property and open a garage door to get to your car.

Hope this helps a little.
