Is there a Statue of Limitations on Hot Checks?

I just got a letter from a attorney saying that I have to pay them 70.05$ for a hot check they said I wrote back in Sept. 15, 1999. That was over 3 and 1/2 years ago, do I still have to pay?

If it's a hot check, they might be able to still file criminal charges. If you don't pay, they can sue you for the amount of the check, returned check charges, prejudgment interest, costs of court, and attorney fees. The statute of limitations is four years.
