Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I need to know what the time frame for collecting a debt( cable bill) is, and if I owe a debt that is 10yrs old and I get married, can creditor add my debt to my new wives account and hold her responsible for the payment? Time Warner cable is doing this, I got married in Oct 09 and since then, my wife added me to the account so I could deal with the bill, the account is in her name and since I owe this outstanding balance, they are trying this strong arm tactic. Is this legal?

Legal? perhaps because it is the same creditor..but your wife does not owe your bill...and your bill is uncollectable if ten years old and no payment for past 4 years..but you may have reopened the debt.....so you need to work it out someway..
