Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I live in the state of Texas but my daughters father lives in Indiana. He has threatened the life of myself and my significant other before and here lately when he calls me he threatens to take my daughter away and tries to give me altematiums. He has threatened that if I don't give him what he wants that he will "make me pay" and is a known to be a violent person. He continuously harrases me when I answer the phone to let him know how is daughter is doing. What is this threatening legally called and is there anything I can do about it?

It is against the law for him to threaten your life. You can take this matter to the police, but they'll give you excuses for why they can't/won't help you.

Stop receiving his phone calls. Figure out a way to block his calls. If one of them gets through, if he gets you on the phone, simply say, "Because of your past threats, I have decided not to accept phone calls from you. Whatever you have to say, put it in writing, lick a 45-cent stamp, and mail it to me." Then HANG UP. Do this EVERY TIME.
