Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Texas

A book using Ann Landers as the middle man.

I'm wanting to compile a book of letters from people around the world that were involved in a certain historical event. I would like to use Ann Landers collum to request these letters. How would I obtain the legal rites to these letters in order to use these in my book? For example, P.O.W.'s stories, and the letters they wrote to their families, could I also use any photos that are sent? thank you.

just ask the person sending the letters to you to release their copyright to you and waive any claim of privacy relative to the letters and photos and get that in writing. You should see a copyright lawyer to be sure you word the release properly.
