Hello,

I have a question. I was offered a staff songwriting deal.

However, they require that all the songs I write during the contract will be "for hire"

Does it mean that after my contract is terminated and then one of the songs starts making money, I will NOT be entitled to any royalties?

And if so, is it something that is an industry standard for novice songwriters?

It is industry standard. Yes, it means "they" (you did not say who "they" are) own the copyright not you so they get the royalties, if any. That is why they are making you sign it. You would do the same if you were "they."
