Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I had an affair with a married woman that resulted in a child. I no longer live in the same town as mother and child. I did not know of child till I was served with child support papers three years later. i have had no contact with them since they were born. I have been paying child support and providing medical insurance as required. Mother is taking me back to court to have my rights taken away and to name her mother as a joint managing conservator. In our first court hearing the judge did not listen to the case because she was still legally married to her ex-husband and because he was presumed father. They have since divorced. What are the chances that my rights with be taken away? Will this stop child support?

I would strongly urge you to talk to an experienced family law attorney in your county immediately. Look on this website and on www.avvo.com for an attorney in your area.

The grandmother could be added as a third conservator without terminating your rights.

If you are paying child support and provide health insurance, the judge might not terminate your rights. But you need an advocate on your side to help you in this complex case.

Good luck!
