Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I was awarded 50% of my spouse's state retirement during our divorce, I know I will only start to draw this when he actually retires. My question is, will I also only draw this as long as he's alive and drawing it himself, or am I entitled to what I was awarded regardless?

It depends on what what his Plan provided, and then, what the QDRO and Final Decree state.

We would need to review the Final Decree of Divorce, review the Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) and research his Plan, in order to answer your question.

We charge $250 an hour to review documents.

Please let me know if you would like for me to send you a credit card authorization form to fill out to authorize a retainer charge of up to 4 hours of work, and then, once authorized, you can forward the documents to us for review.

If the time to review, research and speak to you is less that 4 hours, you will only be charged for the time spent. If it runs over that time, we will notify you as to why it ran over, and request an additional retainer from you to complete the work.

Our firm has offices located in Dallas, Texas and Tucson, Arizona.

Thank you.
