Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex boyfriend and I have a 1.5 year old. We separated 5 months ago and he wants to see the baby without court orders. I want him to see his son, but my fear is he won't return him. What can I do without hiring another attorney to be sure he brings him back when he says he will?

Without getting into the issue of whether he is "Dad" in the legal sense, your best bet is to contact the Attorney General Child Support Office. They can help you with child support, paternity testing and will include a schedule for visitation in their final order. If you need it done faster, you should contact a lawyer and discuss filing a Suit Affecting Parent-Child Relationship. Until there is a court order, the rule is that both parents have equal rights to the child.
