Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have a child who is not biologically mine. I have raised him since he was 7 months with my fiance, he is now 5 about to turn 6 in a few months. He is my fiance's biological son. My fiance has a drug addiction and occasionally slips. My son's biological Mother is also facing her own addiction(s), and has not had a steady address and her last child was born addicted. I am contemplating leaving my fiance and for now he is allowing me to take my son, although he is currently "not in the right state of mind". My question is ... If I at any point in time had to fight for custody, would I have any ground to stand on?
