child support

is it legal to ask for support for a child that we have had legal custody of since birth and have raised as our own child? The child knows no other parents.My husband wants visitation rights

If you have an order granting custody, then child support is certainly a legal obligation from the parent or parents. Sounds like you might not be the natural parents. You would have to go to court to modify the custody order for the imposition of child support.
