Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Definition of Runaway

I have heard from friends, and also police that in the state of Texas when you are 17 it is legal to leave home and you are not considered a runaway. I have also heard that the courts take so long that if your parents try to get you back, the judges usually do not make you go back home since you are so close to being 18.. what information do you have about all of this? Can i really safely leave home at age 17?

Re: Definition of Runaway

At Seventeen if you are absent from home without permission, the police might not take you home, but anyone who lets you stay with them can be criminally charged and jailed for months for harboring a runaway.
