Say you are married, your uncle leaves you cash inheritance. You used the money to pay bills and left your spouse as a benificiary, does she have any rights to the money.

Generally, anything inherited during marriage is that person's separate property, which means, until or unless it's commingled with community property or otherwise indistinguishable from such that person has sole control over that property. So, during that person's life, his or her spouse generally would not have rights to that money. It's hard to say though because if that property generates income then that might be community property etc etc. What I think you're asking is that, does naming her as beneficiary give her any immediate rights to the property. The answer to which, is generally not. Hope that helps and makes sense. Let me know if you need clarification.
