It depends on what your Decree says.

Some folks believe extracurriculars and other expenses of the child are to be paid out of child support. On the other hand, others believe that child support is put into place to subsidize the household of the parent that has primary possession of the kiddos (in other words, children eat, they bathe, they use electricity, they cost parents money!).

It is very normal to include language in a decree inidicating that, in addition to child support, both parties must also contribute towards the agreed-upon extracurricular expenses of the children. This is especially true if the children are involved in more elite extracurriculars, like Select Soccer or horseriding. If the party receiving child support were forced to pay all of those expenses out of the money he or she receives, they would have nothing left over to cover any of the children's other normal expenses.

Hope that helps.
