Can the father take the baby

If i don't put the fathers name on the birth curtificate can he get custody of the baby without having to pay alot of money. He has a really bad reocord and probly wouldn't get the baby anyways.He's under age and he drinks and smokes and has at least 4 worrents. Do u think he would be able to get the baby??
