Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

The father of my 4 month old daughter has abadoned us and I would like to change her last name to my maiden name. I want to do this to make it easier when she goes to school that we have the same last name, and he is not a part of her life anymore.

Unfortunately, it's not easy. If her birth certificate says his last name then you will need his permission to change it.

If you cannot afford a private attorney, go to the TX A G office in your area and file child support on him.
