Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

How do you keep a father from taking a child they have never seen?

I have an 8 year old child and her father has never seen her. Recently, he wanted my husband to adopted her. She wants a relationship with her biological father. He became angry that she did not want to be adopted and said he would just show up this summer and take her for her 42 day visitation which he lives 1200 miles away. I need to have her court case transfered to a county that is 6 hours away from the county it was established . I spoke to a lawyer in the original county this morning and she said that I have to file a motion to modify the visitation and in that a motion to transfer to the new county. In that time, he could show up and try to take her. How can I myself go about filing these motions because we can't afford a large legal fee, and does he have to file contempt charges against in the original county if I refuse to let her go with him considering she has never met him? Any help will be appreciated.

I can't imagine that any lawyer would advise you how to undertake this project yourself. It's almost like asking a doctor to help you perform surgery on yourself. However, the child's father would have to have an order of visitation. You didn't mention if that order existed. If so, then you need to seek a lawyer that might take payments.
