my husband and I have custody of a child who is 8 years old we have had him since he was born and his mom left him but we took custody of him to the court. before we went to court are attorneys settled out of court and she got visitationI believe it's worded as a joint custody on the paperwork with my husband and I being the primary but if my husband and I were to get a divorce who would get custody of the child

Are you listed as a custodian of this child? It would be rare -- but it could happen.

If you don't understand your paperwork, then go see an attorney in your area and have him/her explain it to you.
