Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

A mother, who did not know she was pregnant, had a baby in another state yesterday. She has asked us to be the adoptive parents. We have not begun the adoption process ( lawyers, home study, etc.) How do we get temporary custody while we are waiting for finalize the adoption?

The legal process is going to involve notifying (or attempting to notify) the father.

Crossing state lines is going to add an extra element. Is Mom planning to come back to Texas?

Your best bet is to contact a lawyer and give him all the facts.
