can you move out of your parents house to live with a family member when you are thirt-teen years old legally?

In Texas, your parents control your movements until you are 18. For criminal purposes, you are an adult at 17. For civil purposes, you are not an adult until 18.

If your parents agree to let you move in with a family member, that's ok. After 6 months of residence that person can ask a court to grant them legal custody of you.
