Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my ex did not pay divorce settlement within 30 days of decree being filed. My attorney filed a motion for retrial before the time expired. How does a retrial help me? What is the process for retrial? This is just a game the ex is playing. Is this something the courts allow? Why did I pay all that money for mediation only to have him not pay me as agreed.
