Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Summer Visitation

I have been divorced for 9 years and have an 18 year old and a 12 year old. My ex husband has never exercised his summer visitation in these 9 years. He only gets the 12 year old 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends. My parents have not spoke to me for 2.5 years and my mother recently contacted my ex husband and asked him to exercise his summer visitation this year. He has requested two 2 week intervals. My son came home this weekend and said that during these 2 week periods he is going to have to stay with my mother, his grandmother. Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening? I do not have a problem with my son visiting his father and have never denied visitation, but I thought visitation was for the parent not the grandparent.

Re: Summer Visitation

The simple answer is no you can not tell the father whom he will let she is child during his visitation. However, if you believe it would be harmeful for the child to see his grandmother then you can file a motion to modify prior orders. call us if you need help and live in the Houston area. 281-485-0990
