Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex is going on vacation with his girlfriend for a week . Where they are going is 3 hours away . He says he is leaving our girls at home while he's on vacation . I have a problem with this to a point . The ages are 17 and 14 . They will have to get themselves up and ready for school . And make it to the bus stop on time .
IF ... they miss the bus , or if something happens during the week . I cannot make it to them in time to help out . And that is what worries me . And Dad will be 3 hours away . I've never left them alone . And most surely wouldn't leave them alone for a week ! Especially since school is back in session .
We live in Texas . What should I do ?
