Legal Question in Medical Leave in Texas

birth of child

I recently had a child 6 weeks premature. My husband took off 72 hours to be with me and our child. He has only worked for his current employer for 4 months. Does this mean that the time he took off is not covered by the Family Leave Act because he has not worked for the company for one year? And does him being a part of the Teamsters union affect the Family leave act?

Re: birth of child

The answer to your first question is "yes". The answer to your second is a conditional "no", unless the Union contract has some provision allowing more leave.
