Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

False Statement

I was acccused by a customer of selling an item to them which is normally free. I was investigated and was asked if I had in fact did this, I explained that I didn't and was told from the investigators that they didn't think that I had done it but they had to ask me to close out the case. My question is can I sue this individual for slander? I'm thinking that since this informaion is going in my personnel file, this might prevent me from getting promotions in the future.

Re: False Statement

You probably can, if you really enjoy banging your head into a brick wall. Then, too, it will show up in your personnel file as being litigious, because you couldn't sue for slander without getting your company's records to support your case.
