Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

My husband got injured on his job and now has 20% blood flow to his heart. Has a pace maker and had to have a stint inserted in one of his main arteries. His employer let him go. There is a lot more to this than I can explain. Can he file a Civil lawsuit?
