Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

liability

I sold a vehicle a year ago and the person that bought it got into an accident. The person that bought the vehicle from me told the other one that the vehicle belonged to me and that she should contact me. The individual is now suing me for over 2000 dollars and the law firm states that I was negligent because the vehicle was still in my name as the new owner did not change the title over to his. Is there anything that I can do, or am I liable? I do not have the original contract but there was a verbal agreement with the owner, however I do not have the owner's last name or drivers license, any help would be appreciated. I live in Corpus Christi, TX. which is in Nueces county.

Re: liability

As the owner of the vehicle you are liable. Report this to your insurance company. The driver is also liable. Good Luck.
