Personal property theft - sort of

I had been rehearsing with a singer at her home, and therefore have been leaving some of my musical equipment there, rather than haul it back and forth each time. Recently I've decided to not continue with her and notified her. She has since not returned calls, or emails, and will not answer her door when I come over to aquire my equipment (yes, she is home). What are my options. The equipment would cost about $1300 to replace new. Is this a criminal matter - can the police help? Or strictly civil? Or am I basically screwed?

Based on what you have stated, it would be wise to have the police go to the residence with you so that you can get your property. You should present the appropriate documentation to establish ownership of the equipment to the police and inform the police of the current situation.
